Duke of Sussex Honored for Climate Action with Travalyst Project
Prince Harry has reached a significant milestone with his environmental project, earning recognition in the second annual TIME100 Climate 2024 list. This accolade highlights his work as the founder of Travalyst, a global initiative aimed at transforming the travel industry’s approach to sustainability.
The Duke of Sussex’s inclusion in the prestigious list marks a meaningful achievement, as his project aligns closely with his estranged brother Prince William’s efforts through The Earthshot Prize.
According to the official statement, “The Duke of Sussex supports conservation efforts in Africa and shared that his journey as an environmentalist began during a trip to the Caribbean in 2012, when a young boy spoke about the impact of England’s environmental practices on the coral reefs.”
TIME praised Harry’s vision, noting, “Inspired by that encounter, he launched Travalyst, a nonprofit designed to equip travelers with emissions data, helping them make eco-friendly choices when booking trips.”
The initiative aims to address the travel industry’s significant carbon footprint, with tourism accounting for approximately 11% of global greenhouse gas emissions.
This milestone for Prince Harry comes as Prince William continues his own environmental advocacy through The Earthshot Prize, underscoring the shared passion both brothers have for combating climate change and promoting sustainability.
