Monarch to Embark on First International Tour Since Cancer Diagnosis
Buckingham Palace has shared a heartwarming update as King Charles and Queen
Camilla prepare for their upcoming tour of Australia and Samoa. On Wednesday,
the royal family released delightful photos of Prince Edward and Duchess
Sophie from a recent royal engagement at Hillsborough Castle, Northern
Ireland.
The statement accompanying the photos highlighted the couple’s meeting with
guests, saying, “The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh had a wonderful afternoon
yesterday, meeting guests at a Garden Party… Guests were invited in
recognition of their work to make a positive impact in the local community.”
This update comes just after the Palace confirmed King Charles and Queen
Camilla’s Autumn Tour, scheduled for October 18 to October 26. The tour will
include a Royal Visit to Australia, a State Visit to the Independent State of
Samoa, and attendance at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM)
2024.
Notably, this will mark King Charles’ first international engagement since his
cancer diagnosis in February 2024, signalling a significant moment for the
monarch as he resumes his royal duties abroad.
